U.S.: Baghdad Guard Division
Destroyed

American forces, which crossed the
Tigris River in the drive toward the Iraqi capital, destroyed
the Baghdad Division of Iraq’s Republican Guard, the U.S.
Central Command said Wednesday.

Not much I need to say about this except Peter Arnett was
wrong. Maybe he’ll get caught in the crossfire? The US plan
seems to be right on schedule.

AP Politics: “U.S. troops killed seven Iraqi women and children at a checkpoint Monday when the Iraqis’ van would not stop as ordered, U.S. Central Command said.

Is there such a thing as an “innocent civilian” in a war zone? Couple of things to remember here— just two days ago a truck didn’t stop at a barricade and there were several US casualties. The soldiers followed the rules of engagement, they shot at the truck even putting a round through the engine and the Iraqis didn’t stop. Iraqi soldiers have been masquerading as civilians and it’s hard to separate them from so-called innocents. It is unlikely the van would contain only women and children, women aren’t allowed to drive in Iraq.

Franks: ‘Campaign Unlike Any Other in History’

[Topic: World] src="http://www.trommetter.org/log/archives/topicworld.gif"
width="75" align="right" border="0" />CNSNews.com: “Gen. Tommy Franks, commander of the U.S. Central Command, Saturday said this war will be “a campaign unlike any other in history, a campaign characterized by shock, by surprise, by flexibility, by the employment of precise munitions on a scale never before seen, and by the application of overwhelming force.” At a press conference in Qatar, Franks expressed his sympathy to the families of those killed so far in the war in Iraq. “My heart and the prayers of this coalition go out to the families those who have already made the ultimate sacrifice. Because of the courage and the dedication of these heroes, the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom will be achieved,” he said. “As President Bush said, as last resort, we must be willing to use military force. We are willing, and we’re using military force,” Franks added. He said 52 nations are represented in the coalition.

Wish some more of those 52 nations were willing to contribute troops and/or supplies. If Sodamn Insane won’t come out and surrender I hope they drop the Mother of All Bombs on him.
