Is Bev Purdue Crazy or is she “Crazy Like a Fox?” At a Rotary Club luncheon in Cary, she suggested suspending citizens right to vote.

“You have to have more ability from Congress, I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years, just tell them we won’t hold them against them whatever decisions they make. Just let them help this country recover.” ~North Carolina Governor Beverly Purdue (D)

After being criticized for her remarks, Bev back pedaled and said she was just joking.

I’ve heard the tape and it doesn’t sound like she’s joking. I’m an Advanced Toastmaster and I’ve given and evaluated dozens of speeches. One of the things you learn is that you have to pause slightly after the laugh lines to let the audience react. She did not pause, there was no audience reaction. It was not a joke.

Rush Limbaugh has speculated that her statement was a “trial balloon.” He thinks Democrats know they’re in trouble and really do want to cancel elections.

I’m not sure that’s what is really happening, but I wouldn’t put it past Obama and his cronies. I think they’ll manufacture some crisis, and “October surprise,” just before the 2012 elections. Their hope, Americans will say “We can’t change horses in midstream” because we’re in the middle of a crisis. Kinda like the American sheople did in 2004 when they re-elected Bush.

But I’ve got a message for Barack, you’re no George Bush. You’re certainly no Ronald Reagan. The only President you can be compared to is failed, one-term President Jimmy Carter.

I usually reserve the “Braying Jackass” award for politicians, but Paul Krugman deserves an award for this blog post, where he says in part:

You know that Republicans will yell about the evils of partisanship whenever anyone tries to make a connection between the rhetoric of Beck, Limbaugh, etc. and the violence I fear we’re going to see in the months and years ahead. But violent acts are what happen when you create a climate of hate. And it’s long past time for the GOP’s leaders to take a stand against the hate-mongers.

When Krugman wrote those idiotic words, nobody knew the identity of the shooter for sure. Therefore, nobody could have known his ideology.

After more facts came in, we learned the shooter is a lone, disturbed individual. There is no evidence he listened to or was influenced by any of the bogey men Krugman mentioned.

For writing before knowing the facts, Paul gets the Braying Jackass Award.

Limbaugh Admits Drug Addiction

“At the end of Friday’s radio broadcast, talk show host Rush Limbaugh admitted he is addicted to pain killers.

“Immediately following this broadcast I will check myself into a treatment center for the next 30 days to once and for all break the hold that this highly addictive medication has on me,” said Limbaugh, who did not specify the type of drug involved. “

It takes a pretty big man (no pun intended) to admit this on national radio. He won’t lose his job over this, the pain killers haven’t affected his job performance. The majority of his listeners will forgive him when he comes back in a month.
