<p>Delegates in Maryland&#8217;s legislature are making an irresponsible decision.  They&#8217;re putting national security ahead of individual privacy, <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A12099-2002Mar24?language=printer">expanding the government&#8217;s eavesdropping powers</a>. The comments of one lawmaker, Del. Dana Lee Dembrow, are particularly irresponsible.  She said, &quot;I realize that this bill basically says you can tap someone&#8217;s phone for jaywalking, and normally I would say, &#8216;No way.&#8217; But after what happened on September 11th, I say screw &#8216;em.&quot;</p>
