A Libertarian Story

Laugh, It's Funny

A first grade teacher is explaining to her class that she is a Democrat and how nice it is that we have a Democrat president in office. She asks her students to raise their hands if they, too, are Democrats and support Barack Obama.

Everyone in class raises their hands except one little boy.

“Tommy,” says the teacher with surprise, “why didn’t you raise your hand?”

“Because I’m not a Democrat,” says Tommy.

“Well, what are you?” asks the teacher.

“I’m a Libertarian and proud of it,” replies the little boy.

The teacher cannot believe her ears. “My goodness, Tommy, why are you a Libertarian?” she asks.

A response to Whirled Views

Blogging

Dan Burrell wrote “Time for a Rant” This is my response.

  • I stood firm in my commitment to boycott the coronation of Obamessiah. The only part that was worth watching was replayed 100 times on the evening news. (When Obama stumbled through the oath.)
  • I’m cheering for the Steelers, just on general principle because they’re from Pennsylvania. Too bad McNabb choked, I would have love to see a Keystone Bowl.
  • I’ve given up on both liberals and conservatives, especially conservatives in Congress since none of them seem to have any principles. I’m firmly in the Libertarian camp now.
  • 9/11 only happened because Jack Bauer was on vacation. He’ll never go on vacation again. #24
But I still think Law and Order is worth watching.
  • Everybody on the Today Show is annoying. My wife knows to change the channel to FOX and Friends as soon as I walk into the room.
  • Newspapers deserve to disappear. They’re all so liberal.
  • I’m with you on Carter. He needs to sit down and shut up.
  • The biggest Ponzi scheme in the world is still in operation — it’s called Social (In)Security!

Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided

Life

Reading through this comment thread reinforces my view that Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided. Not because I think abortion should be illegal, but because it’s not a federal issue. SCOTUS should never have take the case in the first place. The decision to abort is way too personal and it’s impossible for any law written at a national level to apply in every situation.

Do I think taxpayers should pay for abortions? Hell No! But then I’m a Libertarian and I don’t think the government should be in the health care business at all.
