Justice Roberts?

Justice

Ann’s really upset that President Bush picked John Roberts for the Supreme Court.

In retrospect, I deeply apologize for all the nasty things I’ve said about the people responsible for putting David Souter on the Supreme Court. Compared to what we know about John Roberts, Souter was a dream nominee.

Apparently she thinks he’s a worse pick than David Souter. If that’s true, the conservatives that elected Bush aren’t getting what they paid for.

Roberts’ Roundup

Bush hoping nomination will install Roberts’ rules of order#
Once again, President Bush has confounded his critics by doing what he said he would do. He has nominated to the Supreme Court someone he believes will not make law from the bench, but interpret laws in light of the Constitution as the Founders wrote it.

Souter in Roberts’ clothing#
After pretending to consider various women and minorities for the Supreme Court these past few weeks, President Bush decided to disappoint all the groups he had just ginned up and nominate a white male.

Calculated confusion#
Those who want to see judges who will apply the law instead of imposing their own policies face not only political obstruction to the appointment of such judges but also calculated confusion about the very words used in discussing what is at issue.
