Totenberg on Gen. Boykin

Eight years after NPR’s Nina Totenberg, on Inside Washington, wished death upon Senator Jesse Helms (“If there is retributive justice, he’ll get AIDS from a transfusion, or one of his grandchildren will get it”), on the same show over the weekend she seemingly desired to hasten the death of Army General Jerry Boykin for having supposedly expressed the view that the war on terrorism “is a Christian crusade against Muslims.” Totenberg hatefully advocated: “I hope he’s not long for this world.”

It’s time to fire this chick. If Rush had to resign for his remarks about McNabb, then she deserves to get the ax for her hateful comments eight years ago and especially now for her anti-Christian bias. If she wished death on a Muslim cleric she’d get fired in an instant.

Double Standard

[Topic: Media Bias] MSNBC’s commendable canceling of its little-watched late Saturday afternoon program hosted by ranter Michael Savage, for wishing a caller would get AIDS and die (“You should only get AIDS and die, you pig. How’s that?”), reminded us of two examples of hate speech from liberals who wished death upon conservatives. But they were not removed from their jobs by their employer.

There seems to be a double standard. Michael Savage gets fired for talking back at an abusive caller whose words couldn’t be heard on TV. Nina Totenberg wished death on Senator Jesse Helms and he never did anything to her personally. Why is Nina still reporting for NPR?

Nina Totenberg is one
reporter I love to hate. When she broke the so-called news
about Clarence Thomas supposedly harassing Anita Hill, I lost
all respect for her. Her credibility with me is gone.

But Nina is a darling of the liberal media elite. She can
wish death on Senator Helms and his grandchildren and they
think she’s funny. Nina said, “I think he [Senator Helms] ought
to be worried about what’s going on in the Good Lord’s mind,
because if there is retributive justice, he’ll get AIDS from a
transfusion, or one of his grandchildren will get it.”
I don’t
think that’s funny, I personally know Jesse Helms
grandchildren.

This is just one of the many outrageous things Bernard
Goldberg points out in
Bias
.

Subject: Hyde Amendment to H.R.1646

Dear Congressman Burr:

When the House considers the State Department authorization bill
(H.R. 1646), I urge you to support the amendment that will be
offered by Chairman Hyde to protect President Bush’s pro-life Mexico
City Policy.

The Mexico City Policy, which was in effect for eight years prior to
the Clinton Administration, was restored by President Bush on
January 22. Under this policy, in order to be eligible for
U.S. “population assistance,” a private organization must sign a
contract promising not to perform abortions (except to save the
mother’s life or in cases of rape or incest), lobby to change the
abortion laws of host countries, or otherwise “actively promote
abortion as a method of family planning.”
