Blackout or Greenout?

[Topic: Environment] [Environmentalists] don’t want America to grow. They don’t want it to prosper. They don’t want us to live any better than people live in the Third World. But just watch how these people scream when their air conditioning goes off. Just watch what happens when they turn on the light switch and nothing happens. Just watch how they try to point fingers of blame at others.

Joseph Farah says it so well, I don’t have anything to add. Read the whole article.

Environmental Feuding

[Topic: Environment] Two recent articles indicate to me that no one, not even President Bush, knows much about this administration’s environmental policies.

Bush to Tout Environmental Policies: “President Bush is trying to rally support for his environmental policies and pump up his campaign funds, interrupting his month-long vacation for a quick two-state trip.In AP Politics

Regulation Through Litigation Troubles State Lawmakers

America’s
courts have taken over the legislative role of regulating entire
industries, many court watchers and state lawmakers believe. The
difficult question, they said Wednesday, is how to reverse the trend.
It is “one of the most fundamental concerns that we as legislators
should have,” and it amounts to “the taking away of our legislative
powers,” said William J. Howell, speaker of the Virginia House of
Delegates. He addressed fellow lawmakers at the annual meeting of the
American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) in Washington, D.C. “We
are finding more and more, in states all over the country, legislative
actions are being overruled by the courts,” said Howell. “As a result
we’re seeing an explosion of litigation all across the country that is
costing untold billions of dollars and is causing all sorts of havoc
with … state budgets.”

This is something Libertarians like me have been worried about for a
long time. Judges shouldn’t legislate or regulate from the bench. Our
Constitution is founded on a balance of power and lately judges have
seen fit to put themselves above the law. It’s gotta stop!

Osama’s Afterlife

[Laugh, It's Funny] I got this joke in my e-mail today and it was so funny, I just had to post it here!

After dying a death as a martyr, Osama made his way to the pearly
gates. There, he was greeted by George Washington, “How dare you
attack the nation I helped conceive!” yelled Washington, slapping Osama
in the face.

Patrick Henry came up from behind. “You wanted to end America’s
liberty, so they gave you death!” Henry punched Osama in the nose.

James Madison came next, and said, “This is why I allowed the
government to provide for the common defense!” He took a sledge hammer
and whacked Osamas’ knees.
