The fate of a new water supply and management plan for California remained murky despite a scheduled floor debate in the Legislature. A package of bills intended to provide long-term solutions to California’s water challenges remained tangled up in parliamentary procedures and backroom negotiations.
What this article doesn’t mention is that the Endangered Species Act prevents farmers from using water they already have. Somehow a small fish is more important than the farmers’ livelihoods.
