Christians Fighting Back

Education Religion

When school administrators wimp out and cave in to the ACLU it’s a shame.  I applaud these students for standing up to the ACLU and the judge.  We need more civil disobedience like this from students.

Judge Blocks Prayer, Students Defy Judge’s Order

The senior class at a southern Kentucky high school gave their response Friday night to a federal judge’s order banning prayer at commencement.

About 200 seniors stood during the principal’s opening remarks and began reciting the Lord’s Prayer, prompting a standing ovation from a standing-room only crowd at the Russell County High School gymnasium.

The thunderous applause drowned out the last part of the prayer.

Good News, Bad News

Quick Links

This week, the ACLU got some good news and some bad news. First the bad news (from the ACLU’s perspective.)

UNC-Chapel Hill Suffers Major Defeat

In July of 2004, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) wrote to UNC-Chapel Hill, explaining for the second time in less than two years that constitutionally protected freedom of association is meaningless if a group cannot exclude people who do not share the beliefs of the group. This is both basic common sense and clearly established law. The College Democrats can exclude Republicans, the college environmental club can exclude students who hate environmentalism, and the college chess club can exclude members who hate the game and wish to see it abolished. In other words, if you form a group in order to express commonly held ideas or ideals, of course you can exclude those who disagree.

Now the good news (from the ACLU’s perspective.)

Muslim student, ACLU fight graduation prayer

A federal judge in Louisville, Kentucky, granted a temporary restraining order prohibiting a prayer from being said during graduation ceremonies at an area high school after a Muslim student on the planning committee objected and garnered the help of the American Civil Liberties Union.

Of course, what’s good news for the ACLU is bad news for America.

DaVinci Movie Poor Quality

Movies

Seems like a lot of people were getting hysterical over nothing. Over a movie they hadn’t even seen yet.

Nothing to fear from ‘Da Vinci,’ says Catholic activist

A leading Catholic activist is telling Christians their worries, building for months, over yesterday’s release of “The Da Vinci Code,” have been wasted on an “inane,” “slumbering,” “anti-climatic” movie that “fails to persuade” and flounders more on its poor quality than its anti-Catholic theology.

“This was one of the most inane films I have ever seen, said Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, after viewing the movie on opening day.

I told my wife that when we go to see the movie, she shouldn’t over think it. She should just enjoy it like she enjoyed the Indiana Jones movies.

Favorite songs

  • Tennessee Morning
  • Watt Ever

Phil Keaggy’s Album 220 is definitely filled with high energy. Songs like Watt Ever
and Stomp
show case Phil’s amazing rock guitar talents. But he slows it down with Tennessee Morning
, one of my favorite songs on the CD. This is definitely a showcase of Keaggy’s diverse talents that make him one of the best guitarists in the world.
