I haven’t said anything about the Dubai Ports World deal until now because I wasn’t sure where I stood on the issue. But because one of my loyal readers asked I give you this:
Democrats Use Ports Deal to Strike Back at Republicans
Democrats are using the Dubai Ports World deal to refute Republican accusations that Democrats are soft on national security, the Boston Globe reported on Tuesday. Democrats are now suggesting that the Bush administration is weak on national security for approving a deal that would allow a Dubai-owned company to manage some of the terminals at six major U.S. ports.
Personally, I think our ports should be run by an American company. Not for security reasons necessarily, but because I think the best way for the government to create jobs is to give these contracts to American companies. Wouldn’t it be ironic if the only company in the U.S. that could provide this service was Haliburton? The liberals are screaming about the ports deal now, the would squeal even louder if the contract was awarded to Haliburton instead.
