My First Ulcer

Journal

Went to the doctor today and he told me I have an ulcer. It’s partly due to stress and partly organic, I think. He gave me some medicine to try. He said if the problem is organic, I ought to start feeling better in 48 hours. If it’s stress, it’ll probably go away after the holidays are over.

I have been having a lot of chest pain just under my sternum for the last week. Whenever I eat, the pain gets worse. Sometimes I have to lay down flat on my back to sort of relieve the pain.

We had to cancel our trip to Pennsylvania. I can’t handle the stress of two kids in the car for 13 hours. I love them both, but that’s too much family togetherness when you’re trying to treat an ulcer.

My Mother is really bummed out. She won’t get to control us for four days while we visit. She’s probably the cause of about 75% of my stress. Although moving into a new house, having a baby and watching your wife go through two major surgeries is certainly a lot of stress. (Especially all in one year.)

I’m so sorry to hear about the ulcer…and your wife’s trouble, too. Here’s hoping that 2005 will be a much better year for you both. Happy Holidays to you.

An amazing cure for heartburn is a teaspoon of vinegar. Try it! It helps most people within minutes.
