Muslim Group Objects to Expulsion of Former Pop Star

An Islamic civil rights group says it will hold a noontime
press conference in Washington on Wednesday to condemn the expulsion of
Yusuf Islam — the former Cat Stevens — from the United States.

Anybody ever pause to think, maybe it’s just a name mix up? Islam is
a common last name among Moslem converts. Yusuf (or Yusef) is a common
first name among Arabs. Why are they getting their nickers in a twist?

Michigan Student Writes on Abortion Topic Despite Teacher’s Pressure

Life

Ann Arbor, MI (LifeNews.com)
Ani Seromik was given an assignment to report on a medical procedure
of her choice for her health, sciences and technology class. She chose
to giver her oral presentation on abortion, but her teacher objected,
first telling her she needed approval from the school’s Health
Education committee, and later suggesting she change the focus of her
report. “I wanted to do it because I knew people didn’t know anything
about abortion,” Ani said. The school’s principal approved the topic,
but still Ani’s teacher tried to redirect and discourage her. She
suggested Ani get her materials from Planned Parenthood, and calling
her aside to a storage closet to argue why she should not follow
through with her report. Regardless, Ani presented her report, and was
thanked by her classmates, several admitting that they had not known
what abortion was about. The school nurse, who was present to fill any
gaps in the presentation said the subject was covered very well. Ani’s
teacher even gave her an A+.

Ani deserves better than an A+ for her courage and stick-to-it attitude. We need more students like her.
