“President Bush says veterans’ group should stop television ads
criticizing John Kerry’s war record.“
Why is Bush wimping out on this one? He should only do this after
Kerry denounces MoveOn.
The success of Iraq’s
soccer team may be the feel good story of the Athens Olympics. Their
recent freedom to compete without the threat of torture from Uday and
Qusay makes this a story being told all over the internet.
Since the U.S. men didn’t even make it into the tournament, I guess we have to pull for the Iraqi’s in the semi-finals.
Carly Patterson Wins the Women’s All-Around
“Carly Patterson upstaged Russian diva Svetlana Khorkina to
become the first American in 20 years to win the women’s Olympic
gymnastics all-round gold medal on Thursday.“
I looked for an article that didn’t compare Carly to Mary Lou
Retton, but couldn’t find one. Guess it’s impossible to not mention the
previous American Olympic champion when talking about the new one.

“I believe in the United States of America as a government of the
people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived
from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a
sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and
inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality,
justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their
lives and fortunes.“I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to
support its Constitution, to obey its laws to respect its flag, and to
defend it against all enemies.”
Written in 1917, it was accepted by the United States House of Representatives on April 3, 1918.
