C2 Tastes Great

Shopping

Over at Signifying Nothing, they have a C2 Review.

I wanted to chime in with my feelings about the new Coca-Cola product also.

First, for those who have been living under a rock, there’s a
low-carb craze sweeping the nation. C2 is Coke’s answer. It’s a
mid-carb beverage, half the sugar of Classic Coke.

Second, it tastes great! In a blind taste test, I’d be hard pressed
to tell the difference between C2 and Classic. There’s no aftertaste.
Although there’s a small amount of Nutrasweet, the major sweetener is
sorbitol. No headaches.

Third, I’d rather give this to my daughter than some other sodas.
She likes an occasional soda and I don’t like giving her 32 grams of
sugar all at once. Also, I don’t want to give her massive amounts of
Nutrasweet. This is a great choice.

I just tried Coke C2 and it sucks – what a disappointment. It certainly does have an after taste and I got a headache halfway through the bottle. Lastly, all the sorbitol is bound to have a laxative effect. Talk about a hodgepodge of junk. They took high fructose corn syrup, mixed in aspartame, sorbitol, and sucralose for a final concoction that tastes like …. (and makes you feel like lousy after you’ve consumed it). All I know is that I’ve had it with the Coca Cola Company. First they force fed their loyal consumers New Coke (by taking away regular coke) and when that flopped, they released “Classic Coke,” which was sweetened with the same high fructose corn syrup of New Coke, never really giving us back the product that put them on the map (regular coke, which was sweetened with sucrose rather than corn syrup, and had a far less sweet and syrupy taste).

These days, as a baby boomer, I crave less sweet soft drinks. All Coke had to do was take regular coke water it town 1/3 and add some extra flavoring and they would have locked in the baby-boomer demographic (the largest buying block of consumers available). Why should I continue supporting a company that doesn’t even know their market… they just can’t get it right. Furthermore, they discourage any consumer input(especially from their annoying website), no wonder they’re out of touch… From now on its Pepsi for me. I think I’ll take it a step further and keep my business from anyplace that sells or distributes Coke.
