Marines get hot meal from grateful Iraqis
The Washington Times: “Iraqi civilians fleeing heavy fighting have stunned and delighted hungry U.S. Marines in central Iraq by giving them food.”
Haven’t heard this reported by the major media outlets on TV. I wonder why? Oh, I know, they don’t want to acknowledge the success of President Bush‘s campaign to liberate Iraq. After all, NBC has Peter Arnett reporting for them (and the Iraqi regime
) and ABC has Peter Jennings. Neither of those networks will give the US liberation effort a favorable story. CNN always reports the world view, so they won’t broadcast a story favorable to the US either.
Contrary to what some people are saying, we are winning the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people. In front of the TV cameras the Iraqis are chanting pro-Saddam slogans. Off-camera, they tell reporters they’re glad the Americans are finally there. They fear reprisals from Baath party members if they cheer for the Americans on camera, thus we don’t have any convenient pro-American sound bytes.
