Is there such a thing as an “innocent civilian” in a war zone? Couple of things to remember here— just two days ago a truck didn’t stop at a barricade and there were several US casualties. The soldiers followed the rules of engagement, they shot at the truck even putting a round through the engine and the Iraqis didn’t stop. Iraqi soldiers have been masquerading as civilians and it’s hard to separate them from so-called innocents. It is unlikely the van would contain only women and children, women aren’t allowed to drive in Iraq.

No matter what those of us who support the troops say, the anti-American media will portray this as a tragedy. The media will say they were completely innocent. They don’t care if US troops get killed, just as long as “innocent civilians” are protected.

In the heat of battle, sometimes you can’t tell the difference between innocents and terrorists. That’s the Iraqi regime’s fault, not ours.
