Media Bias

Marines get hot meal from grateful Iraqis

The Washington Times: “Iraqi civilians fleeing heavy fighting have stunned and delighted hungry U.S. Marines in central Iraq by giving them food.

Haven’t heard this reported by the major media outlets on TV. I wonder why? Oh, I know, they don’t want to acknowledge the success of President Bush‘s campaign to liberate Iraq. After all, NBC has Peter Arnett reporting for them (and the Iraqi regime) and ABC has Peter Jennings. Neither of those networks will give the US liberation effort a favorable story. CNN always reports the world view, so they won’t broadcast a story favorable to the US either.

This guy needs to be tried for treason, giving aid and comfort to the enemy. This is a public relations dream for Sodamn Insane. Saddam’s state television couldn’t have put a better spin on things than Peter did. Arnett is worse than Hanoi Jane and Tokyo Rose put together! If our troops find him on the streets in Baghdad I hope he gets caught in the crossfire and “accidentally” killed.

Innocent Civilians

U.S. Forces Kill Seven Iraqi Women, Kids

AP Politics: “U.S. troops killed seven Iraqi women and children at a checkpoint Monday when the Iraqis’ van would not stop as ordered, U.S. Central Command said.

Is there such a thing as an “innocent civilian” in a war zone? Couple of things to remember here— just two days ago a truck didn’t stop at a barricade and there were several US casualties. The soldiers followed the rules of engagement, they shot at the truck even putting a round through the engine and the Iraqis didn’t stop. Iraqi soldiers have been masquerading as civilians and it’s hard to separate them from so-called innocents. It is unlikely the van would contain only women and children, women aren’t allowed to drive in Iraq.

Powell: Coalition Stays in Postwar Iraq

href="http://www.trommetter.org/log/archives/cat_world.php">
[Topic: World] src="http://www.trommetter.org/log/archives/topicworld.gif"
width="75" align="right" border="0" />AP Politics: “The United States would oppose any United Nations effort to lay out a road map for postwar Iraq that would remove decision-making and control from the coalition forces now seeking to remove Saddam Hussein, Secretary of State Colin Powell said.

After the way the UN botched enforcement of 17 previous resolutions, they certainly don’t deserve any say in the rebuilding of Iraq. I think the US, Britain and the Aussies can handle the rebuilding ourselves. Oh yeah, France, we’re canceling those oil contracts you were counting on.
