This is actually the libertarian thing to do. Government has
no business dictating how we live our lives. They shouldn’t be
sanctioning marriage, gay or straight. It’s a religious matter,
remember that “separation of church” and state thing? It
offended me when I had to go and get government permission to
get married. The Pastor said he wouldn’t perform the ceremony
without a marriage license.
