Choice?

Topic: LifeHave you seen the new NARAL adds on TV? I saw the first one during the Olympics, right after Sarah Hughes won her gold medal. They must have picked this time because a lot of impressionable young girls were watching the ice-skating competition.

It starts out “I believe there’s a reason we are born with free will.” So far, so good, I believe that too. God gives us a free will.

Then a voice says “And I have a strong will to decide what’s best for my body, my mind, and my life. I believe in myself.” OK, that’s good too. Everyone should believe in herself. But, I’m worried about that “my body…my life” part.

“And I accept full responsibility for the decisions I make.” Good, everyone needs to accept responsibility. (Accepting responsibility doesn’t mean killing your unborn child.)

“I believe in my right to choose-without interrogations, without indignities, without violence. I believe that’s one of the founding principles of our country.” This is starting to sound very patriotic.

Then comes the punchline, “And I believe that right is being threatened. The greatest of human freedoms is choice.” OK, if you’re supposed to be free to choose why can’t you legally choose to smoke marijuana? Why can’t you legally decide to sell your body to the highest bidder?

“And I believe no one has the right to take that freedom away. What’s life without choice?” What about the freedom and liberty being denied to the unborn child?

About halfway through the ad, I realized it was from NARAL and told my wife. She hadn’t figured it out yet, and we had to explain to our daughter why it was a bad commercial. It sounds like a great patriotic commercial, but it’s pushing a disgusting pro-abortion agenda.
