When In the Coors…

it becomes possible href="http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewPrint.asp?Page=\Politics\archive\200108\POL20010829d.html">to
give Joe Sixpack a break we ought to lower the taxes on beer.
This article is serious, but funny too. The most laughable claim
comes from MADD. They maintain the bill “would lead to more traffic
accidents and other alcohol related problems.” I just can’t see how
they can believe that, it really is laughable. There’s no way to
prove cause and affect!

Mexico City Again

height="50" align="right" alt="Topic: Life"> href="http://www.wnd.com/news/printer-friendly.asp?ARTICLE_ID=23230">Here
again is why President Bush must stand firm on the Mexico City
policy. U.N. Delegates were shocked to find out that the Canadians
think “reproductive health services” must include the “A-word.” If
other nations are upset with us for not signing on to Kyoto, then
they’d really be upset with us for pushing abortion on them.

My Reaction to Bush’s Speech on ESCR

height="50" align="right" alt="Topic: Life"/>Do I agree with Dubya’s
decision on embryonic stem cell research (ESCR)? Partly.

As a Libertarian, I believe the United States Federal Government
shouldn’t be involved in scientific research in the first place.
There is no Constitutional mandate for the Federal Government to do
this (and many other things it currently does.) Research has been
proceeding with private funds and that’s the way it should continue.

If the Federal Government is going to fund this research, I’m glad
The President is imposing the restrictions that he is. I am happy
that he has decided limit ESCR to the 60 genetically diverse stem
cell lines that already exist. He doesn’t want to see any more
lives destroyed to further the cause of science.

President Bush did mention some things I thought he wouldn’t. He
talked about research using cells from umbilical cords, placentas
and adult stem cells. He mentioned the “Snowflake” embryo adoption
program. He made reference to one of my favorite books of all time,
“Brave New World.”

The President acknowledged that the research may not be as promising
as the create and kill researchers say it is.

Environmental Whackos, Again

Environmental Whackos

First it was the suckerfish and Coho Salmon, now it’s the bald eagles. I think these environmentalists just want to screw the Klamath Basin farmers. Things aren’t quite as bad for those little fish as we thought they were, so we’ve got some extra water we can release. “That water can’t possible go to the farmers, there are other animals that need it first.” That’s what the environmental loonies are telling us. I’m getting very disgusted with these so-called “citizen activists.” The lawyers saw another opportunity to sue and get big bucks from the federal government. Of course they jumped right on it.

The WatchWater of Oregon folks told the Portland Oregonian, “We’re filing this lawsuit out of desperation.” No, they’re not, they’re filing this lawsuit out of greed.

The eagles aren’t there now, the farmers are. If there’s no water when the eagles get there, they’ll find someplace else to go. The Klamath Basin farmers don’t have anywhere else to go. It’s not a death sentence for the eagles. It could be a death sentence for all those family farms.
