Testimony

As far back as I can remember, I always went to church on Sundays with my parents. I suppose I was in church the first Sunday after my parents adopted me. We went to Boys Brigade on Wednesday nights and attended Vacation Bible School in the summers.

All of my Sunday School teachers taught us about the Bible. But most of all, they taught us about Jesus. From Jesus’ birth, to Jesus’ death his entire life was unique. Jesus was unique because he lived a sinless life.

When I was about eight. I realized that I was a sinner (Romans 3:23) I always tried to be good, but I couldn’t be perfect. I remembered what my Vacation Bible School teacher told me. One night that summer, I prayed to receive Jesus Christ as my Savior.

Even though I became a Christian when I was eight, I’m still not perfect. God will be working on me until the day that Jesus comes again.

He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)

From the time I was eight until I was sixteen, I didn’t think too much about really serving God. When I was sixteen, I realized that I needed to serve God actively. I had the opportunity to go on a short term missions trip the summer after I turned sixteen. I went to Spain with Teen Missions.

Before we went to Spain, we spent two weeks training for our trip at Teen Missions Boot Camp. At that boot camp, I realized that I needed to redicate my life to Christ and to commit myself to serving him. We had a wonderful time in Spain that summer; teaching Vacation Bible School and doing open air evangelism in the parks.

My college years were a time when I drifted away from God. I still “put on a good face,” but I wasn’t really close to God. Church was still a big part of my life, but it didn’t have as much meaning to me in my every day life.

I didn’t turn back to God until I graduated from college and moved to Maryland. I got involved with a good church there. I was involved in a very good singles ministry and worked with Boys Brigade. Eventually I was part of the leadership for that singles ministry.

My involvement in this ministry led me to one of the most important events in my life; I met my wife at a singles volleyball game. We met in August of ’91 and as they say, the rest is history. We got married in 1993 and moved to North Carolina in 1994. We moved to Greenville, SC in 2002 and are still living here in 2010.

I’m still not perfect (none of us will be until we get to heaven), but God is always working on me. I pray that God will use me to spread the Gospel on the web and in person. I know he’ll lead the right people to this web page, and I’ll meet the right people in my life. Sometimes it’s hard to have a daily quiet time with God. I’m still learning what it takes to be the spiritual leader in my home.

If you’re not a Christian, I pray you’ll find this page inspiring.
